Calligraphy on vellum and paper
This series of three is an exploration of culture around the Mediterranean, using calligraphy to merge the European north of the basin, with the African coastline to the south. The work is reflective of the Medieval period through the use of a Gothic style of calligraphy and the silhouettes of Gothic architecture windows. The use of the poet Rumi's poems put both north and south in perspective: Rumi, during his life, was admired by many cultures regardless of faith.
